We’re Mechanical Testing Services (or MTS for short) and we’re leaders in full-scale verification and validation testing.

We pride ourselves on being the go-to choice for companies looking for complete and one-of-a-kind testing in the oil and gas, geothermal, carbon capture, LNG, robotics, industrial and aerospace industries. We’ve completed over 1,200 tests for our global customers since we started MTS in 2011.

We offer comprehensive testing capabilities to simulate almost every field condition imaginable. 

We have a 16,500 square foot facility, which includes six load frames as well as numerous other testing equipment. 

We’re located just 40 miles northwest of Houston in Waller, Texas and are conveniently close to major highways and airports.

Custom Testing

We are especially proficient at custom testing scenarios. We work closely with our customers to design the exact test that replicates the type of conditions your equipment will experience in the field. We listen to your needs and then work with you to design a test or series of tests, first on paper and then in real-life to ensure your equipment meets all tolerances and specifications so you can operate with confidence.

Management Bios

B. Randy Sullivan

Founder and CEO

Randy founded and has served as CEO of MTS since its inception in 2011. He has guided the company from its inception to its current position of a global service provider. Previously, Randy was Co-founder and CEO of PPI Technology Services, a major provider of operation management, quality assurance and engineering services, which merged with Cardno, Inc in 2014. Randy has a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University and has been involved in the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico, inland waters, and internationally since 1983, serving in various capacities with independent oil companies including Taylor Energy and Sandefer Offshore.

Alan Schmidt

Chief Financial Officer

Alan joined MTS in 2018 and is responsible for the financial and corporate affairs of the company. Prior to joining MTS, Alan was at Integrated Equipment for six years. For two of those years, he was General Manager of Integrated Elastomers, a new division he was responsible for starting, as well as four years as CFO and Vice President of Operations with responsibilities for facilities in Houston and India. Alan also has 17 years of experience with Lone Star Steel where he held numerous roles most notably Vice President and General Manager of Wheeling Machine Products, an acquisition of Lone Star. 

A CPA for nearly 30 years, Alan graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Business, and Accounting from the University of North Texas.

Scott Wilson

Vice President

Scott joined MTS in 2012 and is responsible for the overall management of testing operations. He previously held the position of Operations Manager for MTS. Prior to joining MTS, Scott was Technical Sales Manager for Vallourec, a world leader in the production of seamless and welded steel tube products, and before that he was Senior Project Engineer for VAM USA, a premium connections provider for the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining VAM, Scott held various engineering positions with RTI Energy Systems, a deep-water drilling energy market supplier with a core competency in titanium, supporting manufacturing and design. Scott holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Baylor University.

Saltuk B. Aksu P.E.

VP of Engineering

Dr. Saltuk B. Aksu, P.E., joined MTS in 2016 and serves as Vice President of Engineering, leading the design, analysis, and execution of full-scale testing operations. A problem solver at his core, he brings over 20 years of experience to strengthen MTS’s technical capabilities, develop practical engineering solutions, and ensure projects meet technical, schedule, budget, and safety standards. He has built highly efficient teams, trained project managers, and mentored young engineers, fostering both technical excellence and leadership growth. Known for his hands-on, direct leadership and clear, transparent communication with clients, he supports operational excellence across MTS while advancing the company’s strategic goals.

Sandra Huddleston

Director of Corporate Affairs and HR Manager

Sandra joined MTS in 2014 and leads accounting, payroll, human resources, marketing, and corporate affairs. She balances strategic vision with operational excellence, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability across the organization.

With over 20 years of experience in corporate management within the energy services industry, Sandra brings practical knowledge and a solutions-focused leadership style. Colleagues describe her as the steady center of the team — leading by example, inspiring trust, and keeping the company's mission and people at the forefront.

Before MTS, Sandra held key administrative and financial roles at energy service firms, where she developed expertise in accounting, payroll, and organizational development. She continues to ensure MTS remains efficient, people-centered, and positioned for long-term success.

Jonathan Young

Lab Manager

Jonathan joined MTS in 2012 and oversees testing and lab operations. Starting as a lab technician, he advanced through lab supervisor to his current role as lab manager. With over 20 years in the oil and gas industry, his background includes machinist, welder, fabricator, technician, and supervisor roles.

He has completed EMT Basic training at Lone Star College-Tomball and Firefighter I & II and Hazmat Operator training through Texas A&M Engineering Extension Services.

A strong communicator and team leader, Jonathan motivates his staff and supports their professional growth. His lab team schedules and manages testing for MTS projects, ensuring company and client quality standards are met safely and efficiently.
